Astrodyne European Tech Centre | EMC Testing Capabilities

Astrodyne TDI EUTC - EMC Pre compliance Testing (1)Astrodyne TDI continues to expand its engineering and technical support capabilities in Europe with the development of advanced pre-compliance testing resources at the Astrodyne TDI European Tech Centre (EUTC).

Puchheim,  Germany— August 12th, 2026 The European Tech Centre is designed to provide partners with greater access to local engineering expertise, EMC troubleshooting, product evaluation, and pre-compliance measurement capabilities. By bringing these resources closer to partners in Europe, Astrodyne TDI can support product development earlier in the design cycle and help engineers identify and address potential electromagnetic compatibility challenges before formal certification testing.

Advanced Conducted Emissions Measurement Capabilities

A major milestone in the development of the EUTC is the initial implementation of a pre-compliance conducted emissions measurement environment designed around CISPR 16-2-1 measurement principles.

Initial measurements have demonstrated a low and clean noise floor, providing a strong foundation for repeatable and reliable conducted emissions evaluation.

Creating this measurement environment requires careful attention not only to instrumentation, but also to the complete EMC measurement environment. Key considerations included:

  • Ground plane design and implementation
  • Low-impedance grounding connections
  • LISN integration
  • Equipment arrangement and cable routing
  • RF reference and grounding concepts
  • Control of unwanted coupling paths
  • Reduction of ambient electrical noise

Together, these elements help create controlled measurement conditions that allow engineers to more effectively identify, characterize, and troubleshoot conducted emissions.

Helping Partners Identify EMC Issues Earlier

The EUTC's capabilities are intended to support partners throughout the product development and EMC troubleshooting process.

Rather than waiting until formal compliance testing to discover an emissions problem, engineers can use pre-compliance measurements to better understand system behavior and identify potential sources of electromagnetic interference earlier.

This approach can help partners:

  • Identify conducted emissions issues during development
  • Locate potential sources of unwanted electrical noise
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of EMI filtering solutions
  • Compare design or component changes
  • Characterize common-mode and differential-mode noise
  • Reduce the risk of unexpected issues during formal compliance testing
  • Accelerate EMC troubleshooting and design optimization

More Than a Test Lab

The European Tech Centre represents an expansion of Astrodyne TDI's broader engineering support infrastructure.

Combining measurement capabilities with Astrodyne TDI's expertise in EMI/EMC filters, power conversion, transformers, and power distribution, the facility is designed to help partners move beyond simply identifying an EMC problem.

Engineers can work with partners to understand the source of interference, evaluate potential solutions, and determine how filtering, grounding, component selection, or system-level design changes may improve EMC performance.

This combination of measurement, troubleshooting, product expertise, and application engineering creates a more complete resource for partners developing increasingly complex electronic systems.

Expanding Technical Support for European Partners

The continued development of the European Tech Centre strengthens Astrodyne TDI's ability to provide partners in Europe with responsive, locally accessible technical support.

Current work includes continued validation of the measurement setup, calibration and verification, correlation and repeatability assessments, and further optimization of the measurement environment.

As these capabilities continue to expand, the EUTC will provide an increasingly comprehensive resource for engineers working to solve EMC challenges, evaluate power and filtering solutions, and improve system performance.

The Astrodyne European Tech Centre is another step in Astrodyne TDI's commitment to providing partners with the engineering expertise, testing resources, and technical support needed to bring reliable, compliance-ready products to market.
