Gary Mulcahy Will be Speaking at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum

Considerations on Power Assurance for Robotic Surgery

Hackettstown, NJ -- Astrodyne TDI’s very own Chief Technology Officer, Gary Mulcahy, will be speaking at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum on December 9th, 2019 in Santa Clara, CA. With over 40 years of experience, Gary is a recognized authority in power conversion technology and the design, development, and production of power systems for maximum performance and reliability. Gary received his BE-EE from New York University, followed by graduate study at the Polytechnic Institute of New York.

During the presentation, Gary will focus on the “Considerations on Power Assurance for Robotic Surgery”. Assurance of power availability during robotic surgery is crucial to procedure success. In the healthcare industry, most facilities have a backup generator to provide power in the event of utility power loss. These generators typically take multiple seconds, if not minutes to come on-line, which can result in potential disruption and compromise of the surgical procedure. Surgical suites present many challenges in the assurance of seamless power continuity. During this session, Gary will identify the challenges to overcome and present modern methods to assure continuous power, which complies with applicable safety standards, as well as minimizes space requirements while optimizing product life and reliability.
